Kiryandongo District Local Government is set to partner with Mangement Systems International, a Tetra Tech Company with funding from USAID and UKAID to strengthen accountability,deepen public participation and reduce corruption in Uganda’s public sector.

The partnership aims at improving the local government’s responsiveness to citizens,service delivery and stewardship of financial and natural resources.

The RDC Kiryandongo, Dan Muganga has urged the community of Kinyara II village in Kigumba subcounty to use the infrastructure put in place by government to get out of poverty. Muganga made the urge Friday August 5, 2022 during the launch of 3.88 billion infrastructure projects within the District funded under Development Response to Displacement impact Project-DRDIP. Muganga said that the infrastructure established by government are enablers of development which the people should take use of.

Kiryandongo District Local Government has been applauded for exceptional performance in the implementation of the development response to displacement impact project in Uganda which has attracted other countries to benchmark.

Residents of Kimogoro village, Mutunda sub county in Kiryandongo district have been invaded by the African army worm which is destroying all the green vegetation in the area. The invasion was reported through the area LCI chairperson to the district production officer on Thursday March 31,2022.

Villages in Kiryandongo district are struggling with the limited safe water sources available in their vicinity. This was revealed by the District Water Officer Samuel Muhumuza during the launch of the drilling of 11 deep holes within the district at Nyakibete LCI in Kigumba sub county. Muhumuza added that according to Ministry of water and environment standards, one borehole serves a community of 400 people of which an average village in Kiryandongo district has 800 people which calls for an additional borehole.

Kiryandongo district chairperson Edith Aliguma Adyeri has called upon the community to always seek reproductive health from qualified health workers at recognized health facilities so as to avoid the likely side effects resulting from self-prescription.

Kiryandongo district local government has received a new Chief Administrative Officer following the transfer of Ismael Ochengel to Gulu district local government.

While addressing the staff of Kiryandongo district during the handover ceremony on Monday March 14,2022 at the district headquarters, Martin Jacan Gwokto the Chief Administrative Officer pledged commitment to service delivery during his tenure in office.

Kiryandongo District is set to benefit from the 280 million USD integrated water management and development project. This was revealed during the advocacy and awareness creation workshop organized by the ministry of water and environment on Thursday December 9,2021 at Kiryandongo community technology access center. Out of the 280 million USD, Kiryandongo will receive 4.6 million USD solar powered piped water system.

Kiryandongo district chairman Edith Aliguma Adyeri has called upon the community of Diika trading center to actively participate in monitoring government programs within their area. Aliguma made the call on Friday November 26, 2021 while addressing the residents at Diika trading centre during the launch of the 13 KM shillings 55.43 million Kisorosoro-Diika road.

Kiryandongo district authorities have commissioned the 2 billion shillings NUSAF3 labor intensive public works projects whose funds had been caveated at the beginning of the financial year 2020/2021. The projects commissioned include community access roads, market stalls, institutional greening and community fish ponds.
